John Carroll ranked as top 10 university in Midwest

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio -- For the 28th consecutive year, John Carroll University has been recognized as one of the best Midwest colleges.

Overall, John Carroll ranked #7 in the Midwest, #2 for “strong commitment to undergraduate teaching,” and #7 among “best colleges for veterans.”

The results were released Tuesday from the U.S. News & World Report "Best Colleges" guide.

John Carroll University was founded in 1886 as Saint Ignatius College. It was renamed in 1923 to honor America’s first Catholic Bishop.

  2. Butler University in Indianapolis, Ind.
  3. Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.
  4. Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind. (tie for 4th)
  5. Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. (tie for 4th)
  6. Bradley University in Peoria, Ill.
  7. John Carroll University in University Heights, Ohio.
  8. Truman State University in Kirksville, Mo. (tie for 8th)
  9. University of Evansville in Evansville, Ind. (tie for 8th)
  10. Elmhurst College in Elmhurst, Ill.
