FAA investigates after plane goes off Burke runway

CLEVELAND --Federal Aviation Administration investigators are back on the scene today at Burke Lakefront Airport after a small plane went off the runway Thursday night.

According to a spokesman for the FAA, the Diamond DA-20 attempted to land at Burke and went off the runway and hit some rocks. The aircraft sustained substantial damage.

Rescue squads were called to the airport just after 6:30 p.m. An airport spokeswoman says the plane can hold two people.

No injuries have been reported.

The owner of the plane is listed as Lake Aviation Inc. of Mentor.
