CHARDON -- A Chardon man was arraigned before Geauga County Common Pleas Judge Forrest Burt Monday afternoon in the death of Russell D. King, Sr. on Feb. 27, 2014, exactly two years to the day of the shootings at Chardon High School that left three dead and four wounded.
King was the father of Russell King Jr., 17, one of the CHS victims who died, along with Demetrius Hewlin and Daniel Parmertor, 16.
Thomas "T.J." Lane, 17, was sentenced to three life sentences without parole on March 19, 2013.
Chad J. Riffett, 37, was charged with involuntary manslaughter, corrupting another with drugs and trafficking in heroin. His bond was set at $75,000 and he was already in jail for another offense.
Riffett pleaded not guilty.
Geauga County Prosecutor Jim Flaiz said this is the first case in Geauga County where a drug seller is being tried for involuntary manslaughter.
