The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says Americans are drinking about 100 calories a day in alcohol.
That's almost as many calories as they consume in sugary drinks and soda.
The new CDC study finds adults consume 5 percent of all their calories from alcoholic beverages compared to almost 6 percent for other sweetened drinks.
The research also made a few other discoveries, including the fact that men drink more calories a day than women.
Men also drink more beer than other types of alcohol.
The study also shows the overwhelming majority of adults drink moderately.
