CLEVELAND -- Fatima Karriem moved to Cleveland from South Africa in 1999. Six years later she learned she had breast cancer.
Karriem went through the full spectrum of treatment, including a radical mastectomy, chemo and radiation.
Now she's taking her own experience to educate women in her homeland.
In Africa, a bra is considered very expensive.
That's why she is asking for people to donate new bras of any size or color. On the tags, she asks that doors add messages of hope, encouragement, and breast cancer education.
Each package will be shipped to Africa with information women need to know about the disease.
To donate to the Bras for Africa project send your new bra with tags attached to Bras for Africa 10900 Euclid Ave. Crawford Hall 304 Cleveland, OH 44106 attention: Fatima Karriem
