Safety Director Martin Flask has confirmed that a Cleveland Clinic doctor jumped to his death from an upper floor of the Reserve Square building downtown.
Police sources say the clinic was concerned about the doctor who left work early on New Year's Eve.
Channel 3 News has been told the Clinic contacted Cleveland police to check on the doctor's welfare.
Members of the police department's Bureau of Inspections are reviewing police dispatch audio tapes to determine if the supervisors ignored the call for help.
The Cleveland Clinic said it would respond later today.
