Kim Wendel

Web reporter Kim Wendel was hired in December 2007 as WKYC's first-ever reporter dedicated solely to the station's Web site,

Kim is a seasoned investigative, political and community-oriented reporter and columnist whose work has won awards locally, statewide and nationally. Her awards have come from the National Federation of Professional Writers, the Ohio Newspaper Association, the Cleveland Press Club, the Society of Professional Journalists and Suburban Newspapers of America. She was named SNA's national Journalist of the Year in 2000.

Kim spent the last 12 years as a reporter/columnist for Sun Newspapers, the nation's second largest paid weekly chain of newspapers, headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio.

Before that, Kim spent several years with a Cleveland advertising agency working on producing TV commercials for national and regional clients; has worked with local show producers for trade shows; and began her career with the Cleveland-based Administration of Justice Committee, a private, non-profit, criminal justice reform agency.

Kim was born and raised in Greater Cleveland and graduated from Regina High School in South Euclid. She holds a communications/journalism degree from the University of Notre Dame/St. Mary's College, in South Bend, Indiana, where she interned at the NBC affiliate WNDU-TV.

Kim is a lifelong resident of the Greater Cleveland area and has lived in Chagrin Falls for the past 26 years. She enjoys walking and swimming and is never out of earshot of her personal police scanner when she is at home.
