3 things to know: Thursday

1. Seven Akron police dogs will get bullet proof vests -- all thanks to Groupon. A Nationwide grassroots Groupon event, called "Occasions," raised more than $250,000 in just a little more than a week. Donors purchased a $10 Groupon, and all the funds went to buying bullet proof vests for the four-legged crime fighters. The Akron dogs will get the vests in the next several weeks.

2. A 31-year-old Cleveland man will announce that he is Michael Jackson's son. Or at least, that's what he claims. Brandon Howard is the son of Miki Howard. He is now a singer himself. TMZ reports his mom and Michael Jackson met in 1982, and he was born soon after. Brandon Howard says he has DNA evidence taken from an old orthodontic device worn by the superstar. He plans on revealing those DNA results Thursday.

3. After 64 years in a grave marked as "unknown", a local soldier will get a full military burial today. Donald Durfee's body was brought home with a United States Army escort earlier this week. He was just 19 years old when he was killed in action in 1950 in North Korea. Last November, Durfee was finally identified through Military DNA registry.
