3 things to know: Wednesday

1. Jury selection begins today in the case of a man accused of killing a Portage Lakes couple, exactly one year ago. 18-year-old Shawn Ford is charged with killing Jeffrey and Margaret Schobert in their home with a sledgehammer. Ford entered a plea of not guilty by reason of insanity. His lawyers say he has a history of mental health treatment. The court expects it will take about a week to seat the jury.

2. Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic will deliver the annual state of the city address. He will outline the struggles and successes of the Summit County city. The speech is at 11:30 a.m. in the John S. Knight Center.

3. An alert if you live near or drive past NASA Glenn. The agency wants to let people know, they'll be testing their outdoor mass notification system. This is a test of NASA's live voice announcement. It's happening at noon, and expected to last just a couple of minutes. Saturday, they'll test the emergency sirens.
