3 Brunswick teens die in car crash, 2 in area hospitals

COLUMBIA TOWNSHIP-- An accident involving a car full of teenagers is being investigated by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Troopers saya Chevrolet Cavalier was driving westbound on Boston Road in Columbia Township at a high rate of speed.

The Cavalier crossed over a railroad crossing and went airborne. The driver, Jeffrey Chaya, 18, overcorrected which caused him to hit a ditch, a tree, and then his car landed upsidedown on its roof.

Troopers say Chaya, Blake Bartchak, 17, and Lexi Poerner, 16, all from Brunswick, passed away.

Troopers will look to the two survivors for answers.

Kevin Fox, 18, was thrown from the car and flown to MetroHealth Medical Center by Metro Life Flight.He is currently in critical condition.

Julia Romito, 17,of Brunswick, was transported to Southwest General Heath Center. Her condition is unknown at this time.
