Akron: 20,000 doses of cocaine found after suspect jumps 30 feet off overpass

20,000 doses of cocaine found by A kron police

AKRON, Ohio -- The bust involved 11.2 kilos of cocaine, which is equivalent to 20,000 doses with a $1 million street value.

But the way Akron Police nabbed the suspect is a whole different story.

It was around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday as officers were monitoring suspected drug activity in the area of 16th Street and Kenmore Boulevard.

When a suspect left the scene, it sparked a chase as the driver allegedly refused to pull over during an attempted traffic stop.

During the pursuit, the suspect’s vehicle hit a curb and crashed into a utility pole before he ran from authorities on foot.

He was captured, according to police, after jumping 30 feet off an overpass.

Investigators located the cocaine upon searching the wrecked vehicle.

The suspect was treated for minor injuries at the hospital and taken into custody. His name has not been released.

Additional suspects and charges may arise through the course of the investigation.
