Akron boy killed when gun goes off

17-year-old dead after shooting in Akron

AKRON - An Akron boy died from a gunshot wound after what police say may have been an accident.

Akron Police say officers were called to the 600 block of Fulmer Avenue around 1 p.m. Friday where a boy was found dead.

Police say it appears that a group of juveniles was playing with a gun when it went off.

Early this evening, police provided an update. Dylan Ray Hudson, 18, of Akron is charged in the murder of the 17-year-old boy who was shot and killed.

Police again said that it appears to have been accidental.

Police say Hudson is being charged with reckless homicide and receiving stolen property from Lansing Drive as police believe that Hudson allegedly stole the gun out of car there.

The gun was reported stolen from a car on Lansing Road.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office will conduct an autopsy. Police say that Hudson has been booked into the Summit County Jail.
