AKRON, Ohio -- A 22-year-old woman fled for her safety during a delivery that took a dangerous twist.
It started around 10 p.m. Tuesday when the Papa John’s employee was delivering food to a home in the 800 block of Sherman Street.
Upon her arrival, a man answered the door and said he had to go upstairs to get money. Minutes later, according to police, the man came back to the door and pulled the woman into the house.
After she was knocked to the floor, the suspect demanded all of her money. Police say she emptied her pockets and handed over $20 cash.
She was then forced upstairs to wait in a bedroom where the suspect allegedly threatened to rape and kill her should she make any noise or refuse to follow his orders.
After five minutes passed, police say the driver no longer heard any movement in the house. That’s when she took the opportunity to race outside the front door and back to her car.
The driver then flagged down a Summit County Sheriff’s Deputy near the intersection of Sherman and East South Street.
She had suffered minor injuries.
Investigators say the home appears to be vacant.
The suspect, and another unknown man, both fled the scene.
Anybody with information is asked to contact the Akron Police Department.
