Akron Police: Two armed men scuffle with victim, rob him

AKRON -- Akron Police say a man, 24, was robbed at gunpoint about 10:30 p.m. Thursday night on King Street.

The man walking in the 700 block of King Street when he was approached from behind by a man wearing a blue, hooded sweatshirt and said “Run them pockets,” according to police.

Police say that when the victim turned around, the suspect was pointing a small black handgun at him.

The victim then punched the suspect in the face and knocked him to the ground, police said. The victim then scuffled with the suspect when another male suspect approached, also armed with a handgun, police said.

Police say then the suspects picked up the victim’s cell phone and headphones and ran away on foot westbound towards East South Street.

Police say the victim described the suspects. The first suspect is described as 24 – 25 years old, 5’09” – 5’10” tall, weighing about 155 – 160 pounds, and wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and black shoes.

The victim described the second suspect as also 24 – 25 years old, 5’06” – 5’07” tall, weighing 135 – 140 pounds, and wearing a white t-shirt and black shoes.
