Police search several houses in connection to deadly Akron fire

Police search homes near fatal Akron fire

AKRON - Akron Police searched several homes near the scene of a house fire that killed seven on Thursday.

Police executed search warrants at two homes on Hillcrest Street, which runs perpendicular to Fultz Street, where the deadly fire occurred.

Police confirmed that the search is in connection to the deadly fire, but have no suspects and no one in custody.

Fire officials removed gas cans, shores, and a hard drive from the homes.

Early Monday, a fire at the 600 block of Fultz Street killed five children and two adults. The fire's cause has not been determined, though a fire source tells WKYC leftover charcoal from a barbecue may be to blame. Fire officials also say arson has not been ruled out.
