Allegiant moves services to Cleveland Hopkins from Akron Canton

Allegiant has announced its expansion in Northeast Ohio by moving from the Akron Canton Airport to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport.

In addition to moving the existing service, Allegiant is adding four, new, non-stop routes to vacation destinations.

Allegiant Air

The services moving from Akron Canton include Tampa Bay via the St. Pete-Clearwater Airport; Orlando via Orlando Sanford Airport; Fort Lauderdale via the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood Airport; Punta Gorda/Fort Myers via the Punta Gorda Airport; Savannah via the Savannah/Hilton Head Airport; and Myrtle Beach via the Myrtle Beach Airport.

The new service coming to Cleveland Hopkins -- beginning Feb. 16-17, 2017 -- includes nonstop to to Jacksonville, Florida with fares as low as $50; Austin, Texas with fares as low as $44; New Orleans with fares as low as $52; and Phoenix with fares as low as $64.

"Not only are we pleased to have Allegiant as our newest business partner at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, we're encouraged with the variety of destinations they are adding for our passengers," said Interim Airport Director Fred Szabo, in a news release.

The Akron-Canton Airport released a statement shortly after the announcement:

"We were informed by Allegiant Air that despite great performance at Akron-Canton Airport they will cease service at CAK on February 15, 2017. Although we hate to lose any airline service, we do not anticipate a significant impact from this announcement as customers have many other exceptional vacation destination options from CAK."

"Customers can still very easily and affordably fly to Florida and Myrtle Beach nonstop from CAK. Customers looking for great fares, exceptional service and easy connections can also fly American, Delta, Southwest or United from CAK."

"Despite this reduction in service, CAK capacity (number of available seats daily) is anticipated to be an increase in the second quarter of 2017 (after service ends) over this year. Customers with Allegiant Air reservations after February 15 should contact the airline directly at or call 1-702-505-8888."
