Did drug debt lead to murder of Ashtabula teen?

Was drug debt reason for Ashtabula teen's murder?

ASHTABULA - New reporting out of Ashtabula sheds new light on the motive behind the murder of a 13-year old girl earlier this month.

According to an affidavit filed in the case against John Bove, who is accused of killing Kara Zdanczewski and leaving her body in a Saybrook Township field, the murder was retribution for a drug money not paid.

The affidavit which was public until Tuesday night has now been sealed by the judge in the case.

Ashtabula newspaper The Star Beacon reports on what the now-sealed paperwork indicates what Bove told authorities.

Bove, and an accomplice kidnapped Kara "with the intent of exchanging her for drug money Bove claimed her father owed.”

Bove remains in a Pennsylvania jail, likely extradited to Ohio after a hearing scheduled for Thursday.

Three other accomplices are charged and jailed in connection to this case.
