Two suspected cases of mumps in Ashtabula County

Ashtabula County health officials are investigating two suspected cases of the mumps.

According to the county health commissioner, swab test results and bloodwork have not yet come back from the lab. The cases involve two children at Kingsville Elementary School.

The children recently visited friends and family in the Columbus area. More than 300 cases of the mumps have been reported in central Ohio.

Mumps often starts with fever, fatigue and body aches. Those infected are urged to stay home, cover their mouths and noses when coughing or sneezing and frequently wash their hands.
