Canton officer nearly run over by suspects

CANTON, Ohio -- “Don’t you do it!” an officer shouts with his gun pointed at the rear of a vehicle.

Moments later, a car holding three people reversed straight at him.

The incident, which was captured on video (watch at the bottom), happened Monday evening in a Wal-Mart parking lot at 4000 Tuscarawas Street West.

According to a police report, a woman accused of stealing merchandise from the store had jumped inside the vehicle with two men.

Footage then shows the officer moving toward the driver’s side and smashing a window.

“Get out of the car!” he shouts numerous times. “Let me see your hands! Don’t do it! Put your hands on the steering wheel!”

Ignoring all demands from police, the trio slowly backed out of their parking spot and left the scene.

The Canton Repository reports that all three were captured after a short chase and all the stolen goods were recovered.
