Cleveland police officer fails drug test, relieved of duty

CLEVELAND -- Police Chief Calvin D. Williams confirmed that, as a result of a failed random drug test, Third District Patrol Officer Kahlil Caldwell is being immediately relieved from duty.

Williams said Caldwell was afforded a pre-disciplinary hearing before Deputy Chief of Field Operations Dornat Drummond, which Caldwell waived.

Caldwell is scheduled to have a disciplinary hearing before Safety Director Michael McGrath March 14.

Williams said Caldwell was hired in September 1998.
