Cleveland: 1 dead, two hurt after shots fired at party

CLEVELAND -- A shooting on the city's east side sent multiple people to the hospital Sunday evening. Police confirmed that one person died from their injuries.

The incident happened after 9 p.m. in the area of East 123rd Street and Tuscora Avenue.

An officer at the scene says the shooting happened during a block party. Police from all five districts responded and said nearly 200 people were in the streets when they showed up.

Monday morning, Cleveland Police updated the information.

Earlier reports that two people had died were incorrect as only one person has died.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the death of Jaleel Tolbert, 19, of Cleveland.

Police arrived and learned that three people had been shot. EMS responded and took the victims to MetroHealth Medical Center and to University Hospitals.

Tolbert was taken to UH and was pronounced dead.

The other two victims -- two Cleveland men 20 and 21 -- were treated at MetroHealth and remain in the hospital.

Police are investigating as to the person or persons that fired the shots.
