Cleveland | 7-year-old girl shot

CLEVELAND -- A 7-year-old girl and 22-year-old man were both shot late Monday night.

According to police, preliminary investigation shows the incident began with a verbal altercation at a gas station on West 106th and Bellaire.

As the 22-year-old man left the gas station with the 7-year-old girl, their vehicle was reportedly followed by the suspect around 10:30 p.m.

Then, at W. 100th and Loretta, the suspect reportedly opened fire from his vehicle into the victims' vehicle. Both the man and child were shot in the leg.

Each was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment. The 22-year-old shooting victim was later arrested after his medical release for a narcotics violation.

The girl is the child of a woman the 22-year-old male is dating.

The shooter has not yet been arrested. Anybody with information is asked to call detectives at 216-623-5118.
