Cleveland Metroparks celebrates 100th birthday this weekend

Cleveland Metroparks celebrate 100 years

The Cleveland Metroparks system just turned 100, and they weren't going to let it go by without a big celebration.

Residents were invited to take part in a special 100th birthday bash Saturday at Edgewater Beach, featuring great food, live music, and fireworks.

"You only turn 100 once," Cleveland Metroparks CEO Brian M. Zimmerman said, "so we want it to be a memorable experience for the community."

Several bands performed throughout the afternoon and evening, including Cleveland's own Michael Stanley & Friends around 9 p.m. The performances were followed by a fireworks show choreographed to music provided by 106.5 FM The Lake.

Plenty of delicious food was also available, both from local food trucks as well as the new Edgewater Beach House. The entire event was sponsored by KeyBank and was free to the public.
