Cleveland police discuss consent decree, policies

CLEVELAND - Cleveland police officials are expected to meet Monday morning to discuss the consent decree and policies regarding the department's Crisis Intervention Team.

The city of Cleveland filed its new policies regarding use of force earlier this month. The policies highlight five general police orders, defining certain terms relative to force policies.

Now, the city is asking for public feedback on its new crisis intervention policies.

“The Crisis Intervention Team Policies are a major component for the City in implementing the Consent Decree,” Mayor Frank Jackson said in a news release issued Monday. “These new policies will continue to create the conditions that foster positive interactions between our police and the communities they serve.”
