Melt to open restaurant at Case Western Reserve

CLEVELAND -- Case Western Reserve University is about to get really cheesy.

A new Melt location will open at the Tinkham Veale University Center at the end of August.

The sandwich joint is currently under construction.

"We are focusing on quick service for both lunch and dinner without losing the Melt experience," owner Matt Fish says.

Guests can expect to see between eight to 10 signature Melt gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu, with an exclusive Case Western Reserve-themed sandwich available only at the new Melt University location.

Melt University will operate from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and will be open to the public.

The Melt University location at CWRU will be operated in partnership with Bon App├ętit Management Co., the university's food service provider since 2004.

Melt currently has five locations: Lakewood, Cleveland Heights, Independence, Mentor and Columbus.

Melt Bar & Grilled has been recognized by gobs of grilled cheese lovers, including Zagat's 2013 America's Top Restaurants Survey, the USA TODAY/Zagat list of America's Best Sandwich Shops; Cleveland Magazine, which has honored Melt with numerous Silver Spoon Awards; The Cleveland Scene, which dubbed Melt the "Best Restaurant" and "Best Sandwich;" PETA, who praised Melt's "Kindergarten" grilled cheese sandwich as a top vegan choice; "ESPN The Magazine," which named Melt one of the top 10 best sports bars in the country; and "Field and Stream" Magazine, which featured Melt's Lake Erie Monster walleye sandwich in a full-page spread.

It was also famously featured on Travel Channel's "Man Vs. Food."
