RTA driver arraigned in death of pedestrian

RTA bus driver arraigned on vehicular homicide charges

CLEVELAND - The RTA bus driver who was behind the wheel when a pedestrian was struck and killed at Cleveland's Public Square was arraigned in court Wednesday morning.

Antoinette Peterkin, 35, was indicted on vehicular homicide charges for failing to stop her bus, thus striking and killing 69-year-old Joan Kuendig last December. Kuendig died several weeks later.

Peterkin allegedly slowed the bus, but failed to come to a complete stop prior to hitting Kuendig in the crosswalk. Peterkin was fired by the RTA in January.

Peterkin pleaded not guilty. A pretrial has been set for May 15.
