Suspected pipe bomb detonated by bomb squad

CLEVELAND -- Police responded to North Marginal road after a passerby reported seeing a device laying in the grass that resembled a pipe bomb.

Police responded to the area and closed down the road from East 9th Street to the Burke Lakefront Airport entrance.

The bomb squad responded to the scene. They used a remote controlled robot to approach the device and set off a small explosion. The object in question was not an explosive device.

The road has since reopened to the public.
