Swarm of midges so thick it appeared on Cleveland radar

June 7, 2017: Gross! Lake Erie is alive with gobs of midges swirling around the waterfront. In fact, the amount of midges was so intense early Wednesday morning that a swarm of the insects was actually detected on Cleveland radar.

In fact, the amount of midges was so intense early Wednesday morning that a swarm of the insects was actually detected on Cleveland radar.

“Sometimes the way in which they’re moving, and the particles are so tiny you can actually tell if they’re either birds, planes or in this case midges,” WKYC meteorologist Michael Estime said.
