Comedy tour helping veterans and local comics

Step up to the mic is coming to Cleveland

There's an special comedy event happening in Cleveland this week. "Step Up" To The Mic will use a whole lot of laughs to raise money for homeless veterans.

The “Step Up” To The Mic Comedy Tour is a celebration of comedy in six (6) cities showcasing multicultural local comedians representing their home town. One comedian from each showcase will be selected to perform in Las Vegas, NV for the finale.

Philanthropy is one of the goals of the event, and its promoters: Dream Xcitement Entertainment. As a U.S. veteran owned company, DXE will donate partial proceeds to benefit homeless veterans from each show in their respective market.

"Step Up" To The Mic will be held this Friday at Cleveland's Masonic Auditorium on 3615 Euclid Avenue starting at 7:30 p.m.

WKYC Channel 3's Jim Donovan was joined on Monday's 7 p.m. news by three people who are all playing important roles in "Step Up" To The Mic:

  • Luigi Parker - co-founder of Dream Xcitement Entertainment, which is putting on the event.
  • Jasmyn Carter - a comedian who won last year's Cleveland Comedy Festival, and will be performing at the show.
  • Mustafa Muhammad - owner of Fatboy Donuts sponsoring the event.
