Authorities: Missing Lakewood woman is not presumed dead

LAKEWOOD - Lakewood Police and Cleveland FBI officials say a Lakewood woman missing since October is not presumed to be dead.

Roaa Al-Dhanoon, 24, was last seen at her Edgewater Drive apartment Oct. 16, 2016. The mother to a 3-year-old worked at Aladdin's restaurant in Lakewood and was recently divorced just prior to her disappearance.

Al-Dhanoon's ex-husband, Fahad Mohammed Saeed, had previously been charged for violating a restraining order for contacting her. In an interview with WKYC, Saeed said he believes his ex-wife left the country, possibly to her native country of Iraq.

A North Olmsted man, Ammar Sami, 22, was indicted on charges of obstruction of justice related to the case in December. On Monday, he pleaded no contest for lying to investigators to cover for another person of interest related to Al-Dhanoon's disappearance.

Lakewood Police tell WKYC that they are still pursuing the case and are not considering Al-Dhanoon dead. Neither is the FBI, according to a spokesperson.
