Company tries to take some stress out of losing a loved one

STRONGSVILLE -- Planning a funeral or even talking about death is never easy, but one local company is trying to take some of the stress out of it.

Cleveland Cremation is based in Strongsville and Parma but is also online. The No. 1 priority is making families feel comfortable, "offering simple, affordable and worry-free cremation services," which can all be done with just a click of the mouse.

"We can do everything on the Web," president of Cleveland Cremation Crystal Jardine said. "Submit all your information of your loved ones. Submit it through email and text, and we contact you, and we can take it from there."

Jardine said the whole process takes only 10 minutes. After a little paperwork, it can all be said and done in just two days with the ashes being shipped to your door because they take care of every detail in one welcoming kitchen-like location.

"We wanted to make it less industrial. We wanted to make it warm," Jardine said. "Your loved one does not leave our care. They're in our care the entire time. I believe that helps people. It comforts them."

The cost is also comforting. Their service starts at a little over $1,000 -- about a 40 percent savings compared to a traditional funeral. But some families don't like the idea of cremation altogether.

"We do whatever families want," Jardine said. "So our questions to the family at our first point of contact are, 'You tell us what you want, and we can make that happen for you to honor your loved one.' "

Their services can include posting obituaries on Facebook and offering families decorative cremation remains -- more than your typical urn.

"We believe cremation can be very elegant," Jardine said. "So it's what the family wants in order to start their grieving process."

Right now Cleveland Cremation has three locations -- including online -- but they're hoping to expand. People from all over the country use the online service.

The company is also planning on increasing their social media presence. You can already find them on Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest.
