Deadline looms for extended regional tax filing

The clock is ticking for those of you who still need to file your regional income taxes.

Because of computer problems, the Regional Income Tax Agency (RITA) extended its April 15 deadline until midnight (Monday evening).

We checked the website overnight, and it seems to be working.

To combat the increased last-minute demands last week, RITA increased its Internet bandwith and phone coverage. Officials say they were answering more than 200 phone calls every hour.
