Man robs Cleveland Hts KeyBank at gunpoint

CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, OHIO - The FBI says that a masked, armed man robbed the KeyBank on Mayfield Road about 9:45 a.m. today (April 8).

According to the FBI news release, the man came in the front door and brandished a black semiautomatic weapon.

The FBI says he approached the teller line and jumped the counter, then told the tellers and customers to get down on the floor.

He said it was a robbery and demanded the tellers to open their cash drawers and to get on the floor, then he robbed two teller stations.

According to the FBI news release, he tried to get access to the vault but was unsuccessful.

He ran out through a side door, according to the FBI and ran east. The FBI considers him armed and dangerous.

The FBI says the man was described as a masked, light skinned black male,  approximately 5'7 -5'8" tall, weighing 160 - 180 pounds with a medium build.

He wore a dark, hooded sweatshirt, blue mask, dark gloves, had a black semiautomatic pistol, and was carrying a black backpack/duffle bag with one strap.

Tips can be provided to the Cleveland Division of the FBI, Cleveland Heights Police Department or Crimestoppers.  Tips can remain anonymous.

Reward money is available for information leading to the successful identification and prosecution of the individual responsible.
