PARMA -- Normandy High School officials released the following statement to parents after an incident today where a student sprayed pepper spray in the cafeteria during lunch.
" This afternoon one of our students sprayed pepper spray in the cafeteria during lunch. The area was immediately evacuated and both the Parma Fire Department and District Safety and Security team were called to the scene. Proper safety protocols were followed to ventilate and clean the area and the Fire Department has deemed the building safe for normal school activities to resume."
"Appropriate disciplinary actions will be conducted in accordance with Board Policy. We are asking parents to please speak with your children about safe and appropriate behaviors for the wellbeing of our school community."
No word on how many students were affected or if any were taken to the hospital.
