Police looking for 2 after officer-involved shooting, chase

CLEVELAND -- Two suspects are still at large after a task force incident that led to an officer-involved shooting and a chase.

Cleveland police Detective Jennifer Ciaccia said the incident started during an undercover operation at Glendale Park on East 149th Street about 2:30 p.m.

A suspect fired a shot at an undercover agent, who had identified himself as an officer.

The agent returned fire, striking the suspect in the buttocks, said Ciaccia. The officer involved is a federal agent and a member of the Northern Ohio Law Enforcement Task Force.

She said the suspect ran from the scene, leaving in a vehicle with the two other suspects involved.

Other task force members trailed the suspect's vehicle to Avon Avenue and East 112th Street, where officers apprehended the suspect with the gunshot wound. The other two took off on foot.

Around 6 p.m., SWAT units searched two homes along the 3800 block of East 144th Street on information from witnesses that the suspects could be inside. Ciaccia says residents at both homes consented to the search, but neither suspect was found.

The suspect suffering a gunshot wound is currently in stable condition at MetroHealth Medical Center. He was the only person injured in the ongoing incident.

No names or descriptions for any of the three suspects have been released.
