Police make arrest in transgender murder from December

CLEVELAND -- An arrest has been made in the December murder of a transgender woman.

Brittany Stergis, aka Leron Kidd, was found shot inside a car on West 25th Street. She was 22.

Delshawn D. Carroll, 19, of Cleveland was arrested Friday at the Justice Center.

He was charged with aggravated murder and is being held at the Justice Center.

Shortly before Stergis' murder, police discovered another transgender victim, 52-year-old Betty Skinner, beaten to death inside her Devonshire Road apartment. The timing of the two murders alarmed the local LGBT community.
