UPDATES | Power outage hits thousands in Cuyahoga County

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- Thousands of people are waking up Sunday without electricity due to a transformer malfunction.

At one point, FirstEnergy was reporting more than 15,000 customers in Cuyahoga County were impacted by a power outage.

That number dipped to around 6,000 outages at 11 a.m.

The hardest-hit areas include Rocky River, Fairview Park, Bay Village and Parma.

It’s estimated power will be restored by noon.
