CLEVELAND -- Some staff from the Jewish Federation of Cleveland just returned home from a 10 day trip to Israel.
"I've been there many times, but this particularly sobering," says Alan Gross, VP of Jewish Federation of Cleveland. "Over the 10-days we probably had to go in a safe room 4 to 5 times."
Sirens would sound when rockets were coming into Israel, and they had about 90 seconds to find shelter or a safe room.
"It was very real and close, one time a building was shaking where we were in a safe room," says Tami Caplan, VP of Mandel Leadership Center.
There are still dozens of young people in their 20's in different service programs in Israel. The situation is being closely monitored by the sponsoring groups and parents back home.
