Summer Youth Employment Program proposal introduced

CLEVELAND - Cuyahoga County Executive Ed FitzGerald and the Division of Cuyahoga Job and Family Services have introduced the 2014 Summer Youth Employment Program.

The program will help to enhance the employment skills of people ages 14-24. It will provide them with a high-quality, paid summer work experience.

"The Summer Youth Employment Program has been a resounding success for the young people of Cuyahoga County," said FitzGerald. "Alongside our community partner, Youth Opportunities Unlimited, we are registering thousands of young people and developing hundreds of worksites."

Anyone who participates will undergo an orientation, where they will be provided with job-readiness training. They will also be required to attend workshops, including financial education. A free savings account through Huntington Bank will also be set up for every participant.

You can apply online at www.youthopportunities.orguntil May 9, 2014. The final selection of applicants eligible is based on a random selection that meets family income guidelines.
