BAY VILLAGE -- The FBI is hoping to bring fresh national attention to solving the mystery behind the murder of 10-year-old Amy Mihaljevic.
Although a $25,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person involved is nothing new, a recent FBI podcastand video (below) are bringing the offer back to light.
Amy was lured to a Bay Village shopping strip on Oct. 27, 1989, and was never seen again.
According to authorities, Amy left her school that day on foot and headed to the shopping center, where she reportedly appeared to be waiting for somebody. The FBI says a man approached and put his hand on Amy's shoulder as he walked her through the parking lot.
Investigators determined Amy had been called prior to her abduction by an unknown person who arranged to meet with her so they could select a gift for her mother.
A jogger discovered Amy's body months later -- on Feb. 8, 1990 -- in an Ashland County field.
She had been stabbed and suffered head trauma.
Authorities say a turquoise horse earring, black boots and leather binder, which were all in her possession at the time of her disappearance, have never been found.
Soon the FBI will release a one-minute video with pictures of Amy in their continued effort to crack the case.
Anybody with information in this case is asked to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324).
