We've all been moved by the weekend fire that destroyed the heart of downtown Garrettsville.
One of the businesses destroyed by the blaze was the local food bank.
Here's where you can lend a hand.
We have teamed up with the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank to collect donations for the Garrettsville community.
Here is a list of what is needed most right now:
- Canned vegetables
- Peanut butter
- Canned soup
- Macaroni and cheese
- Toiletry items
If you wish to make a donation, you can drop off your items in the main lobby of our studios -- 1333 Lakeside Ave. in downtown Cleveland -- from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
We will continue collecting donations through Friday, March 28.
In the long run the Garrettsville community will also need the following:
- Heavy duty shelving
- Large refrigerator
- Chest freezer
- Computer system
- Work tables
- Waiting room chairs
If you'd prefer to make a cash donation to help meet those long-term needs, you can do so by clicking here and then simply clicking on the banner that says Support Garrettsville Community Cupboard. Or you can send a check to: Nelson Garrettsville Community Cupboard, P.O. Box 210, Garrettsville, OH 44231.
Volunteers with the Akron Canton Regional Foodbank were at our studios all day Tuesday filling their truck with donations. Thanks to all who stopped out.
