GHPD: Boy, 16, admits 'clown threat' to Garfield Heights High School

GARFIELD HEIGHTS, OHIO - The Garfield Heights Police Department has confirmed that a boy, 16, is responsible for posting a clown threat directed at Garfield Heights High School.

Police say he admitted to detectives that he created the account and uploaded a picture from Instagram's picture file.

Police say that detectives are filing menacing and inducing panic charges in Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court.

Police did not say what the exact threat was and did not say if the boy was a GHHS student.

Garfield Heights is only the latest Northeast Ohio area to see threats of this kind.

On Monday afternoon, Eastlake police identified three girls linked to making threats on social media to Willoughby-Eastlake students, using intimidating clown photos.

Police say two of the girls are Eastlake Middle School students. The three girls admitted to creating fake social media accounts and posting the threats. Police say several students received notifications stating, "I am going to come for you."

A threat against Willoughby Middle, Eastlake Middle and South High schools was posted to Instagram Sunday.
