Green: Giant Eagle reopening following roof concerns

GREEN -- A Giant Eagle store in Green that closed this morning due to concerns about the roof will reopen today at 1 p.m.

According to the Green Fire Department, the roof of the store at 1700 Corporate Wood Circle was bowed in spots. The fire department says the issue was likely weather related.

Giant Eagle issued the following statement that read in part:

"Earlier this morning we became aware of a need for minor roof maintenance at our Green Market District. As we investigate the source of the issue, out of an abundance of caution the decision was made to temporarily close the store. There are no injuries to Team Members or customers, nor was any product damaged as a result of the maintenance issue"

Giant Eagle says the minor maintenance has since been completed and the decision to reopen at 1 p.m. was made as a result.

The company sent a representative from its corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh to assist during the repair and evaluation at the Green store.
