Homes evacuated after possible gas leak

CLEVELAND -- A Cleveland Fire Department spokesman says part of a west side neighborhood has been evacuated as a precaution after a strong smell of natural gas was reported.

The fire department says it appears that a vacant house in the 3700 block of W. 37th Street is leaking gas.

Neighboring homes and those across the street have been cleared while the possible leak is investigated. A total of four homes have been impacted.

Gas company crews are on the site. Police are on scene as well.
