Willoughby-Eastlake school superintendent charged with DUI

CHESTER TOWNSHIP -- The current Willoughby-Eastlake schools superintendent, formerly the superintendent of Chagrin Falls Schools, was charged with OVI and ACD following a 2:30 a.m. crash Saturday at the corner of state Route 306 and Mayfield Road (state Roure 322) here.

Stephen L. Thompson, 48, of South Russell, Village, was charged with first-degree misdemeanors failure to maintain an assured clear distance, OVI and for allegedly having a blood alcohol concentration of .17, according to Chardon Municipal Court records.

Ohio's legal limit is .08.

On Monday, the W-E school board called a special meeting at 5 p.m. and immediately adjourned into executive session to discuss personnel, according to the district website.

He is scheduled to be arraigned before Chardon Municipal Court Judge Terri Stupica at 8 a.m. Friday.

He posted the $750 bond on Saturday and is represented by attorney Ron Graham, according to court records.
