AVON LAKE -- A 25-year-old Avon Lake man is facing multiple charges after an early morning crash.
Police say it started at 2:32 a.m. Friday when an Avon Lake officer attempted to stop a Ford F-150 pickup truck for a traffic violation near Lake Road and Inwood Boulevard.
The driver, identified as Shane Wasara, reportedly fled at a high rate of speed, losing control on Redwood Boulevard.
According to police, the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway before striking a fire hydrant, two trees and three vehicles. It ultimately came to rest upside down near the front door of a house.
Police say the driver fled the crash site on foot. He was later arrested without incident in the area of Lake Road and Parkwood Avenue.
Wasara has been charged with several charges, including OVI, reckless operation and failure to comply.
