Grandmother opens shop in granddaughter's memory

ELYRIA, Ohio -- Driven by passion and haunted by pain, Rhonda Washington is determined to not let another family go through what she's had to endure.

Her eight year old granddaughter NaJia Boone was killed in a tragic accidental shooting. Everyday since, her family has tried to push through their pain with a non-profit in NaJia's honor and now this new thrift store.

With the help of donations The Reinventing Closet on Second Street will offer clothing, shoes, and accessories for the entire family. All proceeds will go toward teaching kids gun safety and giving them constructive things to do after school with the help of volunteers.

The back area of the store will also offer kids a creative space to spread their wings. It's not much, but it's a start to what has become a lifelong mission for Rhonda and her family.
