Man robs First Merit Bank in Grafton

CLEVELAND - Just before 5 p.m. Friday, the First Merit Bank at 432 Main Street in Grafton was robbed, according to the FBI.

The man is described as in his 50's, approximately 5'5" tall with a chubby build, and weighs about 180 pounds.

He was wearing a dark, blue hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and a black mask with holes in the mouth area for ventilation.

He verbally demanded money and threatened to use a gun if the two tellers did not comply.  A gun was not seen, according to the tellers.

The man may have driven off in a charcoal grey Pontiac, possibly a Grand Am or a Grand Prix, or maybe a Bonneville or Oldsmobile. Witnesses reported different models.

Tips can be reported to the Grafton Police Department or the Cleveland Division of the FBI. Tips can remain anonymous.

Reward money is available for information leading to the successful identification and prosecution of the individual responsible.
