North Ridgeville teen beaten while walking home

NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio -- A Lorain County teenager is recovering after a group of guys beat him and stole his clothes, forcing him to get help in his underwear.

Nick Vincenzo has a broken facial bone and bruises behind his left ear. His dad Jon is grateful that the injuries aren't worse.

"On the plus side, he's wasn't stabbed, he was not shot, those are the two big things. I have my son today and that's huge," said Jon Vincenzo.

Jon says his son was walking home from a corn festival at South Central Park in North Ridgeville when three guys jumped him from behind on Ridge Plaza Drive. He says they punched and kicked Nick repeatedly.

"One of the boys said, 'I think he's had enough,' but the other two kept going," said Jon.

Jon says the guys stole Nick's cell phone SIM card and almost all his clothing. He ran to a Marathon gas station where Owen Hamid was working.

"At first I was thinking, OK, this guy is just another drunk character," said Hamid. "And then I saw his eye, and I thought, 'Oh my God.'"

Complete strangers called for help. Nick attends Elyria Catholic where he's an athlete and star student. His dad says the guys who did this will be caught.

"These guys, I feel bad for them. They are thugs and they have a long road ahead of them," he said.

Jon says his son does not know the guys who attacked him.
