Lorain police have suspects in fatal motorcycle accident

LORAIN - Just before 5 a.m. today, police were called to the area of State Route 57 and Schaden Road southbound for a car vs motorcycle accident.

The responding officers learned that the two occupants of the car had run off.

Police determined the motorcycle operator, a Lorain man, 47, had life-threatening injuries. He was taken to University Hospital Elyria Campus where he died.

About 6:30 a.m., the driver of the vehicle, a  Lorain man, 24, turned himself in at the Elyria Police Department.

He was later taken to University Hospital Elyria Campus for "non life threatening" injuries he sustained in the accident. A short time later, the passenger in the vehicle, a Lorain man, 19, turned himself in at the Elyria Police Department.

Elyria Police Department Accident Investigators and Detectives are currently conducting an investigation concerning this fatality, according to police.

Police said charges will likely be filed against the driver and passenger of the vehicle. Police said the identities of all parties involved will not be released at this time.
